Come on guys!
I am not spending $500 to $1000 for a new set of irons!
Seriously, will a new set of irons make me a better player.
At my age and playing ability I would benefit more from practicing my chipping and putting.
Having said all that lets go through my bag like the pros after they win a tournament.
Whats in the bag!
As you can see my clubs are not the state of the art!
Playing last summer in a Golf Channel Am Tour at the World Golf Hall of Fame my clubs became the center of a conversation with the cart boys.
To summarize "What kind of irons are those? I have never heard of them!"
Back in the day the Tommy Armour 855 was one of the best set of Irons on the market.
Don't believe me that these irons have stood the test of time. Here are the reviews from everyday players like myself who still play the Tommy Armour 855 irons.
My old faithful driver is a Cobra Amp. Paid $150.00 for it more than 5 years ago. It was a demo at the GolfSmith store here in Chattanooga. No telling how many times this club has been hit but it is still performing. If it ant broke don't fix it.
The most expensive club in my bag is the Odyssey Tank. I had tried other inexpensive putters and they just could not match the quality of the Tank. Like I said most expensive club in the bag at $250. Might be the most important as well.
I love playing golf but don't want to break the bank. Its like buying a car. You can spend $20K to drive around town or you can spend $3K. Golf Clubs are the same in my opinion. There are some older model clubs that still perform as well as the newer models and cost a lot less. I paid $150 for my Tommy Armour 855's and they play just fine.
I can't buy a golf game and neither will I try.
Golf clubs are expensive and I would rather squander my money on other pursuits.
